Casey Adcox, Head Coach 
Coach Adcox is in his 12th season in 2019 leading the Spartan program, and second tenure as head coach.  He also served as head coach at SHS from 2003-05, returning to coach in 2010. In 10 seasons, he has compiled a 173-94 record, including 7 state appearances.  Coach Adcox has coached 18 seasons at various levels since his playing career at Central Washington University ended in 1998.  Most notable prior stops include many local and national events with Baseball Northwest, 4 seasons with  NW Timberjacks 18U and assisting at Green River CC.  Coach Adcox is a Health & Phys Ed teacher at SHS.  His family consists of his wife, Kelley, and two sons, Brayden (14) and Jace (9).
Brent Osburn, Varsity Assistant and Outfield Coach 

Coach Osburn is entering his 11th season as a coach at Sumner HS, and is a product of Puyallup HS where he had a successful career as an infielder. Coach Osburn graduated from Northwest University and is a pastor. He and his wife, Angela, reside in Sumner with their children Bennett (8), Allison (5) and Brock (3).  Coach Osburn just completed his 8th year coaching football at Sumner HS.

Bryan Marquez, Program Infield Coach – 

Coach Marquez is entering his 6th year as varsity assistant with the Spartan Baseball program. He was a 2005 graduate of Sumner HS, and a 2005 winner of the Spartan of the Year award.  After earning all SPSL (4A) honors at SS his senior year, he went on to two seasons at Green River CC. While at Green River, coach Marquez was team captain and earned All NWAACC honors and lead the Gators to the NWAACC championships in his sophomore season. For his junior season, Coach Marquez transferred to New Mexico State where he finished his college career. In 2009, he was 1st team all WAC and earned 1st team NCAA Div 1 All American honors at shortstop (Louisville Slugger and American Baseball Coaches Association), starting 59 games, batting .414 with 22 home runs and 85 RBI’s. He also holds NMSU records for assists (213) and double plays (46).  Coach Marquez is the Tacoma facility director of the Northwest Prospects Academy.  He lives in Sumner with his wife, Andrea, who is also a 2005 graduate and gymnast from Sumner High School.

Greg Walker, Roving coach – Varsity, JV, C  

Coach Walker assisted in the program for 8 years now.  He originally helped from 2003-2006, and now has returned to assist in 2014-present. Coach Walker will work will all three levels in 2018, and is known for his positive attitude and strong background with various position groups. Coach Walker lives in Maple Valley.

Junior Varsity

Chris Snelling, JV Head Coach & Program Hitting Coach
Coach Snelling is entering his 9th season with the SHS program and 4th as head coach of the JV team. His first 4 seasons were as varsity assistant and hitting coach. He was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the MLB amateur draft of 1999 out of Corpus Christi HS in Garokan, Australia. His professional playing career spanned 10 seasons where he played in MLB from 2002-2008, most notably for the Mariners.  Coach Snelling won a World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008, in addition to starting for Team Australia in the 2009 and 2013 World Baseball Classic. Coach Snelling lives in Bonney Lake with wife, Jarah, who is an SHS alum and is currently a 5th grade teacher at Liberty Ridge Elementary. Jarah and Chris welcomed their first child, Auggie, in 2017. Coach Snelling works for Sumner School District Maintenance & Operations Department.



Freshman Team

Shaun Finnegan, Head Coach
Coach Finnegan is entering his 12th season heading up the Spartan Freshman Team. Coach Finne went to and played football at the University of Mary and also has served as Offensive Coordinator for the football program at SHS. He is a Health & Phys Ed teacher at Thomas Jefferson HS and resides in Orting with his wife, Dana (who teaches Health/PE at Sumner HS), and two children Rex (9) and Kaya (6).
